THANK YOU to everyone who participated in, attended, and helped with Art Squared 2011. It was a fantastic day of art in Fountain Square! See you next year!
3:00–5:00 Performances by Masterpiece in a Day competitors
5:00 Fountain Square Art Parade begins
6:00 Masterpiece in a Day winners are announced
BE ART. Everybody loves a parade, right? Join the Fountain Square Art Parade and be a part of a moving work of art. Build a float, wear an outfit, make a statement. Or just watch the art move...and maybe even move you. The parade starts after Masterpiece in a Day, so there's no reason not to participate in both events (and with a little extra help, you can be a vendor at the Fountain Square Art Fair too). The rules simple: whatever you do has to be family-friendly, and has to be able to move along the entire parade route. And it doesn't cost a thing to participate.
Call for Participation
The Fountain Square Arts Council invites you to join hundreds of neighborhood residents, artists, musicians, and more at the 2011 Fountain Square Art Parade.
The parade is a platform for presenting artwork in the public sphere. We encourage groups and organizations, family and friends, poultry, and creative individuals to sign up. The parade showcases contemporary artworks of all sizes and shapes that celebrates parades, street pageantry, and community. This is an all-ages event.
The parade will start at Southeast Community Services, 901 Shelby Street, and proceed south on Shelby to Prospect Street, then east on Prospect to Spruce Street, north on Spruce to Woodlawn Avenue, West on Woodlawn to Shelby, and north on Shelby to Southeast Community Services, where the parade will end.
The Fountain Square Art Parade is part of Art Squared, a celebration of art in Fountain Square. Three free art events on one fantastic September day, Saturday, September 17, 2011. More info at DiscoverFountainSquare.com.
Passing by the fountain? Throw in a few coins and help support Art Squared! All monies collected from the fountain will be given to the Fountain Square Arts Council in support of their efforts to make September 17 the best art day ever.
