Fountain Square is going to the dogs...and cats!

INDIANAPOLIS (November 17, 2011) Many pet owners will concede that their pets run their lives.  Avid Fountain Square residents, Paul & Suzanne Dijak-Robinson admit to taking that notion one-step further.  Their Bernese Mountain dogs, Archie & Ben told them to own and operate a business.  A pet food business, naturally!  “Raw-feeding is on the rise as dog and cat lovers realize the correlation between an unnatural, processed diet and a myriad of health problems.  We try to make raw-feeding as convenient and easy to understand as possible,” states Archie emphatically.  “There is a real need out there.”

My Pet Carnivore.com is an online retailer of an exclusive, private-label brand of raw, frozen pet food made from animals raised in Michigan and other midwestern farms.  The company is committed to the fact that dogs & cats are carnivores and should be fed a species-appropriate diet.  Founded in 2007, My Pet Carnivore.com began modestly, servicing only Indiana customers by word-of-mouth.  At present, it utilizes its fully functioning web store to sell over 80 product varieties, delivers monthly to customers in 10 Midwestern states and ships to all continental 48.  Once just customers, Suzanne and Paul purchased My Pet Carnivore.com from the company founder in March of 2010.

Suzanne and Paul have resided in Fountain Square since 2002 and have been active in the both the residential and business community.  Commitment to the Fountain Square neighborhood and historic revitalization borders on fanaticism for the couple.  They recognize the still largely untapped potential of the area.  Paul and Suzanne have 30 plus years of combined experience as respected business owners.  “It would have been much easier to hang our shingle in another part of the city,” comments Suzanne, “since the majority of our local customers reside on the north-side and Hamilton County, but it was inconceivable to us.  We are Fountain Squarers to the core.  We are committed to showing Indy residents how hip and dynamic our neighborhood is.  There were numerous hurdles in buying a commercial building here.  But we also had so much encouragement from other business owners in the Fountain Square commercial corridor.”

My Pet Carnivore.com recently purchased the building at 1402 S. Shelby Street.  They will move their warehouse and headquarters into the space over the next few months.  The location also boasts a storefront, which will be transformed into a specialty boutique once the My Pet Carnivore.com operations have settled in.
