Neighborhood restaurant continues to bring flavor to Fountain Square
Fountain Square establishment, The Naptown Restaurant and Wine Bar is bringing new flavor to the southside. The Naptown, formerly Deano’s Restaurant & Wine Bar, is re-branding itself with a new menu, more local artists and musicians and wine and beer tastings. The new name follows the direction of the Naptown Juice LLC which operated Deano’s Restaurant & Wine Bar. Chef Bryant also notes that The Naptown will still host the relaxed vibe all have come to enjoy. Food, wine and beer culture in a welcoming and down-to-earth environment are still key components of the experience. A novice palate can enjoy the experience as well as a seasoned palate. The name Naptown is derived from what traveling musicians coined Indianapolis as “nap” town. The name combines a history Indianapolis had for wholesome and quality living and from our city’s name India “nap”olis. The Naptown Restaurant & Wine Bar supports local vendors, wine makers and breweries. Supporting local businesses spreads the resources. All who visit will be greeted, “Welcome to Naptown!” This historic commercial district located on the near southside marked by the intersections of Virginia Avenue, Prospect Street, and Shelby Street is known as Fountain Square. The Naptown Restaurant and Wine Bar is located on the square in the historic Fountain Square District at 1112 Shelby Street. The Naptown offers a full dinner menu of wine-friendly gourmet cuisine and weekly specials, wine tastings every Wednesday at 6pm, beer tastings every second and fourth Thursday at 7:30 pm and live music every Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays beginning after 7 p.m. Hours of operation Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to midnight and Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. No cover charge for music.
