Masterpiece in a Day is a competition where artists create an entry that day –September 15- to be judged at the end of the event. Participation is free and the top three selected by the judges will receive cash prizes. First Place=$1000.00, Second Place=$500.00, Third Place=$250.00.
Anyone interested must bring their own art supplies. Registration starts at 9 a.m. at 924 Shelby St. Competitors must register no later than 11 a.m. and will have until 3 p.m. to create their “masterpiece in a day”.
The Masterpiece in a Day competition includes 2D entries in painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, and most textiles, and 3D entries of various building materials, clay, paper, found objects and more. Use your imagination!
Our judges this year are Pam Allee, of the Harrison Center for the Arts, Rich Hanna, of the Stutz Artist Association, and Katrina Murray, of the Circle City Industrial Complex.

Masterpiece in a Day is once again including a music category for 2018.
Musicians will sign up at 924 Shelby St. (across from Arthur’s Music) from 9am – 10:45 on the 15th. The entries will be randomly paired up and asked to create a song/piece of music…then perform for the judges at 4pm…with winners announced immediately afterward.
Cash prizes: First Place=$300.00, Second Place=$200.00, Third Place=$100.00.

Masterpiece in a Day for Children
Art competition for kids ages 13 to 17.
Their “Masterpiece in a Day” will be created during the Art Squared event. Contestants should be finished by 4:30 pm. The art will be judged & prizes awarded between 5 & 6 pm. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd & honorable mention. The artists should be present for the awarding of the prizes.
Contestants must bring their own materials & should sign up for the event at the information booth.
There will also be a booth where younger children can paint their own “masterpiece” and take it home. Children’s activities will be located near the information booth, which will be located this year at the corner of Virginia & Woodlawn.
